Metolius Preserve The Metolius Preserve has more than 80 species of birds and a rich diversity of plants. Within the preserve, the Becky Johnson Trail is a loop of just over half a mile around South Fork Lake Creek, one of three forks of the creek that flow through the preserve.

The 1,240-acre Metolius Preserve was acquired and protected by the Deschutes Land Trust in 2003.

Getting there: From Sisters, head west 10.6 miles on U.S. Highway 20. At 0.7 mile after the Metolius River/Camp Sherman turnoff, turn right on Forest Road 2064. Continue 2.6 miles on 2064, then right on Forest Road 800 and right again on 810 for 0.25 mile.
